Join our Free Smoking Cessation Program

The Vanderburgh County Health Department offers Free Nicotine Replacement Therapy to help smokers quit.

To be eligible the participant must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be a cigarette smoker, or be using electronic cigarettes
  • Attend five one-hour weekly individual sessions

Educational materials and incentives will be given and weekly carbon monoxide screenings will be provided.

Session 2: Moods to Expect when Quitting, Understanding Withdrawal Symptoms, Nicotine Replacement Information, Managing Cravings, Quitting Options

Session 3: Stress Management with Quitting

Session 4: Smoking and Weight Gain, What We Should Be Eating, Portion Control, Activity

Session 5: Slips and Relapses, Apps


FAQs

  • How much does the program cost?
    • Our Stop Smoking Program classes offered at the Vanderburgh County Health Department are free of charge.
  • Where is the class located?
    • The Vanderburgh County Health Department at 420 Mulberry St. Evansville, IN 47713. The class will be held on the 2nd floor. There are stairs and an elevator access to the 2nd floor.
  • Is there any paperwork that needs to be filled out prior to coming?
    • We will provide everything that is needed at the beginning of class.
  • What does the class consist of?
    • There class is a lecture setup with different PowerPoint topics and incentives offered at each class.
  • How long is each class?
    • The first class is around an hour and a half.  The remaining classes will be held for an hour.
  • What are class cancellation policies due to weather?
    • We follow the EVSC policy, but we will contact everyone to let them know.
  • What time do the doors open for class?
    • The door to the classroom will open 30 minutes prior to class starting.
