STAY HEALTHY AT THE FAIR!

Every year, thousands of kids and adults come out to the County Fair.  To keep your experience fun and memorable, we recommend you take simple steps to keep your visit SAFE and HEALTHY.

This year it is important you be aware when attending the fair, that swine flu, H3N2v, has been identified in pigs in Indiana.  There have been cases of humans getting this flu virus from contact and exposure to infected pigs.  To avoid the possibility of getting swine flu, H3N2v, you can take a few simple precautions.

Things to remember:

Don’t

  • Don’t eat, drink, or sleep in animal areas
  • Don’t bring pacifiers, baby bottles, toys, or eating utensils into animal areas
  • Don’t visit the animal barns if you are sick
  • Don’t visit the pig and swine barns if you are at high risk of serious flu complications (children younger than 5, people older than 65, are pregnant, and have other chronic health conditions such as lung disease, heart disease, diabetes, asthma, cancer, HIV or a compromised immune system)

Do

  • Wash your hands often, especially before eating, after using the restroom or changing diapers and after visiting the animal barns
  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of non-alcoholic beverages
  • Enjoy your experience at the County Fair!!
